Reflection On My Reading Skills - 872 Words

Reflection Before taking this class I thought that my reading skills were exceptional, but I was undeniably wrong about that. Now, after taking this class I can say that my reading skills have greatly improved. I now know how to analyze works of art and find new meanings behind the words that I read. Now, with the knowledge on how to use criticism to my advantage, all types of literature will become wide open to me in a sense that I will be able to understand literature in greater detail. I would certainly say that I learned more in this English class than any other English class I have taken so far, even though it was online. I even improved on my grammar throughout the course of these past six weeks. I learned how to write more comprehensive paragraphs and how to write essays that stay on topic as well. Before taking this class I had not read too many poems so I was not too familiar with quoting or citing them. Now, I easily know how to quote a line or stanza without having to look up what to do every time. I would also say that I am far more appreciative of literature, more than ever poetry. Before this class I did not take poetry to seriously as I thought it was silly and for the most part nonsense that was being spat off by crazy writers. Unbeknownst to me I found out quickly just how deep and emotional some poetry can be. I found out awfully fast that poetry is more than just dilly dally writings and the nonsense that I believed it was.
